If indeed my radiant sun has gone westward in separation,

then my night and morning are alike in darkness.

His dwelling is in the dark core of my heart and the pupil of my eye,

even though earth and sky have borne us far apart.

He departed westward, while I journeyed east,

and travelers’ journeys in opposite directions are anguish.

If journeying increases the distance between us, what

will bring us closer, if there is to be a meeting?

Yes, God’s kindness will reunite our company—

scattered as it is—and bring the abode near, however He wills.
