جَرتْ بنَجيعٍ فَوق خَدَّيَّ مُزِبدِ
I say to my eye, on the day of farewell to them, when it had

خُذيtake بنَصيبٍa share منهُمُof them قبلbefore بَيْنِهمtheir departure
خُذي بنَصيبٍ منهُمُ قبل بَيْنِهم
ودونَكِand yours to take والدمعَand the tears المخضّبِblood-stained فيon غَدِthe morrow
ودونَكِ والدمعَ المخضّبِ في غَدِ
Take your share of seeing them before their separation,
Take a share of them before their departure;
and tomorrow, take the silvered tears.
And tomorrow, the blood-stained tears are yours.
