لا تجزَعَنَّ لخطبِ

فكلُّ دهرِكَ خطْبُ

Do not despair because of tribulation,

For every era of yours has tribulation,

وحادثاتُ الليالي

مُملّةٌ ما تُغِبُّ

And the events of nights

Are boring, they do not disappear,

تَروحُ سَلْماً وتَغدو

على الفَتى وهي حَربُ

They go in peace and come back

Upon the young man and it is war,

ولا تَضِق باصطبارٍ

ذَرعاً إذا اشتدَّ كربُ

And do not be impatient with endurance

A while if hardship intensified,

فصبرُ يومِكَ مرٌّ

وفي غَدٍ هو عَذْبُ

For the patience of your day is bitter,

And in tomorrow it is sweet,

كم صابَرَ الدهرَ قومٌ

فأدركوا ما أحَبَّوا

How many people endured time

And attained what they loved,

وكلُّ نارِ حريقٍ

يُخشى لظاها سَتَخْبو

And every blazing fire

Its intense heat will die down
