احْذَرْ من الدّنيَا ولاَ

Beware of the world, and do not

Beware of this world and don’t

be deceived by life's brief span.

Be deceived by the short life

وانظُرْ إلى آثَارِ مَنْ

وانظُرْ إلى آثَارِ مَنْ

صَرَعَتْهُ مِنَّا بالغُرُورِ

صَرَعَتْهُ مِنَّا بالغُرُورِ

And look at the traces of those

And look at the ruins of those

among us whom it struck down through deception.

Who were overpowered by pride

عَمَرُوا وشادوا ما ترا

عَمَرُوا وشادوا ما ترا

هُ مِنَ المنازِلِ والقصورِ

هُ مِنَ المنازِلِ والقصورِ

They built and erected what you see

They lived and built what you see

of dwellings and palaces,

Of homes and palaces

وتحوّلُوا من بعد سُكْ

وتحوّلُوا من بعد سُكْ

نَاها إلى سَكْنَ القبورِ

نَاها إلى سَكْنَ القبورِ

and moved on, after dwelling

And after dwelling in them

in them, to dwell in graves.
