    Let me strive for wealth, for I

    have seen the poor man deemed the worst of people,

    the most shunned and the least esteemed by them,

    even if he has noble lineage and virtue.

    The gathering excludes him, and he is scorned

    by his wife, while the child rebukes him.

    And the wealthy man is found to command such awe

    that his companion's heart almost takes flight.

    وَلَكِن لِلغِنى رَبٌّ غَفورُ

    His sin is deemed slight, though his sins are many;

    yet wealth has a forgiving lord.
