وَرَنَواand they gazed بِنُجلٍwith wide eyes لِلقُلوبِto the hearts كَوالِمِwounding
They unveiled their faces with arms and wrists,
They unveiled their faces with arms and wrists,
And shot us with wide eyes that wounded hearts.
And gazed with wide eyes that wounded hearts.
حَسَرواthey drew back الأَكِمَّةَthe sleeves عَنfrom سَواعِدِforearms فِضَّةٍsilver
فَكَأَنَّماso, as though اِنتَصَبَتstood upright مُتونُbroad blade surfaces صَوارِمِkeen swords
They drew the sleeves back from silver forearms,
They drew back their sleeves from forearms of silver,
As though the broad backs of sharp swords had risen upright.
So it was as though the broad blades of keen swords stood upright.
