وَدَعا الهَمَّ شَجوُهُ فَأَجابا
My heart yearned after it had repented,
My heart softened after it had become hardened
and its grief summoned care, and care answered.
And grief's worries called out, so it responded

The forgotten one was stirred from the agony of love

And expressed sorrows and troubles

That came from a deserted dwelling of Salma,
That's from a desolate place belonging to Salma
clad in a cloak of its own effacement.
Wearing a robe made of coarse wool

hoping for an answer to be returned by the dwelling,
Hoping a reply might be returned

It returns the voice to an atmosphere it competes with
murmuring with it to the broad ravines.
Through it, the slopes call out longingly

Its ancestor is the courageous, valiant Abu Bakht
and her maternal aunts were chosen from purebred Arabian stock.
And its aunts were chosen as nomads
