لَجَّ قَلبي في التَصابي

لَجَّ قَلبي في التَصابي

وَاِزدَهى عَنّي شَبابي

وَاِزدَهى عَنّي شَبابي

My heart persisted in youthful dalliance,

My heart is immersed in love

And my youth held proudly aloof from me.

And my youth has slipped away from me

وَدَعاني لِهَوى هِن

وَدَعاني لِهَوى هِن

دٍ فُؤادٌ غَيرُ نابِ

دٍ فُؤادٌ غَيرُ نابِ

And I was called to the love of Hind

And another heart calls me to passion

By a heart not averse.

Leaving my own broken and torn

قُلتُ لَمّا فاضَتِ العَي

قُلتُ لَمّا فاضَتِ العَي

نانِ دَمعاً ذا اِنسِكابِ

نانِ دَمعاً ذا اِنسِكابِ

I said, when both eyes overflowed

I said, as tears overflowed

With tears pouring forth:

Flowing in streams down my cheeks

إِن جَفَتني اليَومَ هِندٌ

إِن جَفَتني اليَومَ هِندٌ

بَعدَ وُدٍّ وَاِقتِرابِ

بَعدَ وُدٍّ وَاِقتِرابِ

If Hind has shunned me today,

If India has abandoned me today

After affection and closeness,

After intimacy and closeness

فَسَبيلُ الناسِ طُرّاً

فَسَبيلُ الناسِ طُرّاً

لِفِناءٍ وَذَهابِ

لِفِناءٍ وَذَهابِ

Then the path of all people

Then so be it, for people's affections

Leads to perishing and passing away.

Are fleeting, and destined to fade
