I see you, O Hind, in keeping me at a distance,

making excuses to me to sever my bond.

Hind has heeded the slanderers about me, and so

she now sees me as a sore on one with mange.

O Hind, do not withhold your bounty

from us, for I have not yet obtained from you what I desire.

O daughter of the best of kings in noble deeds,

be gentle to one with a need and a hope.

And be moderate in reproach, and leave aside

some of your unjust blame against me and your anger.

And set us a date for your promise,

then be truthful with us: there is no good in lying.

She said, “Then your tryst is a moonlit outing during

the first ten nights of Rajab.”
