Do not blame me, ʿAtīq; what ails me is enough.

And seek a remedy for me from the physician.

Indeed, my heart, because of Umm ʿAmr, is still

Ailing since the night of Taḥṣīb.

It hides from people what ails it, and what it conceals

Is plain and clear to the discerning.

O daughter of goodness and splendor, and of the branch of

Glory and lofty station, reward me.

For in you the branches of Quraysh have culminated

In lofty endeavors and noble lineage.
