رُشِدَّتَ وَأُنعِمَت اِبنَ عَمرٍ وَإِنَّما

رُشِدَّتَ وَأُنعِمَت اِبنَ عَمرٍ وَإِنَّما

تَجَنَبتَ تَنوراً مِنَ النارِ حامِيا

تَجَنَبتَ تَنوراً مِنَ النارِ حامِيا

You were guided aright and blessed, son of Amr; only thus

You have been rightly guided and favored, son of Umar, indeed

Did you avoid a blazing furnace of fire—

You have avoided a blazing fire, burning hot

بِدَيِنِكَ رَبّاً لَيسَ رَبٌّ كَمِثلِهِ

بِدَيِنِكَ رَبّاً لَيسَ رَبٌّ كَمِثلِهِ

وَتَركُكَ أَوثانَ الطَواغي كَما هِيا

وَتَركُكَ أَوثانَ الطَواغي كَما هِيا

Through your worship of a Lord whom no lord resembles,

With your religion, you have a Lord unlike any other

And by forsaking the tyrants' idols just as they were,

And you have abandoned the idols of misguidance as they are

وَإِدراكُ الدينِ الَّذي قَد طَلَبتَهُ

وَإِدراكُ الدينِ الَّذي قَد طَلَبتَهُ

وَلَم تَكُ عَن تَوحيدِ رَبِكَ ساهِيا

وَلَم تَكُ عَن تَوحيدِ رَبِكَ ساهِيا

And attaining the faith you had sought.

And attained the religion you sought

And you were not heedless of your Lord's oneness.

Without forgetting the oneness of your Lord

فَأَصبَحتَ في دارِ كَريمٍ مَقامُها

فَأَصبَحتَ في دارِ كَريمٍ مَقامُها

تَعَلَلُ فيها بِالكَرامَةِ لاهِيا

تَعَلَلُ فيها بِالكَرامَةِ لاهِيا

So you came to a dwelling with a noble resting place,

Thus you came to reside in an abode of honor

Taking comfort there in honor, carefree.

Amusing yourself there with bounty, playfully

تُلاقي خَليلَ اللَهِ فِيها وَلم تَكن

تُلاقي خَليلَ اللَهِ فِيها وَلم تَكن

مِن النارِ جَباراً إِلى النارِ هاويا

مِن النارِ جَباراً إِلى النارِ هاويا

There you meet God's intimate friend, and you were not

You will meet the friend of God therein, and you were not

A tyrant from the Fire, plunging into the Fire.

From the fire a tyrant, to the fire falling
