قَد ثَبَتَ الخاتَمُ في خُنصَري

قَد ثَبَتَ الخاتَمُ في خُنصَري

إِذ جاءَني مِنكِ تَجَنّيكِ

إِذ جاءَني مِنكِ تَجَنّيكِ

The ring has become fixed on my little finger,

The ring is now set in my nose

when your baseless reproaches came to me.

Since your reprimand came to me

حَرَّمتُ شُربَ الراحِ إِذ عِفتِها

حَرَّمتُ شُربَ الراحِ إِذ عِفتِها

فَلَستُ في شَيءٍ أُعاصيكِ

فَلَستُ في شَيءٍ أُعاصيكِ

I forbade myself to drink wine when you shunned it,

I've forbidden myself wine though I crave it

so I disobey you in nothing.

So in nothing do I disobey you

فَلَو تَطَوَّعَتِ لَعَوَّضتِني

فَلَو تَطَوَّعَتِ لَعَوَّضتِني

مِنهُ رُضابَ الريقِ مِن فيكِ

مِنهُ رُضابَ الريقِ مِن فيكِ

So, if you were willing, you would compensate me

If only you would be so kind

with the sweet saliva from your mouth in its place.

As to let me wet my throat with your saliva

فَيا لَها عِندِيَ مِن نِعمَةٍ

فَيا لَها عِندِيَ مِن نِعمَةٍ

لَستُ بِها ما عِشتُ أَجزيكِ

لَستُ بِها ما عِشتُ أَجزيكِ

And oh, what a blessing that would be to me!

What a great blessing you are to me

I could never repay you for it as long as I live.

As long as I live, I cannot repay you

يا زَينَباً قَد أَرَّقَت مُقلَتي

يا زَينَباً قَد أَرَّقَت مُقلَتي

أَمتَعَني اللَهُ بِحَبيكِ

أَمتَعَني اللَهُ بِحَبيكِ

O Zaynab, who has kept my eye sleepless,

O Zainab, you have deprived me of sleep

may God grant me delight in your love.

May God allow me to enjoy your love
