فَهَل لي إِلى ظِلٍّ لَدَيكَ سَبيلُ
O cypress of the garden, long has my longing endured.
O cypress tree of the garden, my longing has lasted long
Is there, then, a way for me to the shade beside you?
Is there for me a way to your shade?
مَتىwhen يَلتَقيcan meet مَنone who لَيسَis not يُقضيpermitted خُروجُهُhis going out

وَلَيسَ لِمَن يَهوى إِلَيهِ دُخولُ
When can one who is not permitted to go out meet,
When will those whose going out is not fulfilled meet
while the one he loves has no access to him?
Those who yearn to enter but have no access?

May God grant us relief from our distress,
May God grant us relief from an affliction of ours
so that a sweetheart and a lover may find joy.
So we may meet in joy, intimate friends
