طالَ تَكذيبي وَتُصديقي

طالَ تَكذيبي وَتُصديقي

لَم أَجِد عَهداً لِمَخلوقِ

لَم أَجِد عَهداً لِمَخلوقِ

Long have my disbelief and belief endured.

Long was my denial and belief,

I have found no faithfulness in any creature.

I found no pact with any creature.

إشنَّ ناساً في الهَوى حَدَّثوا

إشنَّ ناساً في الهَوى حَدَّثوا

أَحدَثوا نَقضَ المَواثيقِ

أَحدَثوا نَقضَ المَواثيقِ

Indeed [probable reading], people who spoke of love

People have related in passion

brought about the breaking of covenants.

The violation of covenants.

لا تَراني بِعدَهُم أَبَداً

لا تَراني بِعدَهُم أَبَداً

أَشتَكي عِشقاً لِمَشوقِ

أَشتَكي عِشقاً لِمَشوقِ

After them, you will never see me

You shall never see me, after them,

complaining of passion to one who yearns.

Complain of love for the beloved.
