سَأَمنَعُI shall prevent طَرفيmy eye أَنfrom يَلوحَflashing بِنَظرَةٍwith a glance
وَاِحجِبهُand veil it بِالدَمعِwith tears عَنfrom كُلِّevery مَنظَرِsight
I shall keep my eye from casting a glance,
I will restrain my eyes from glancing
And veil it with tears from every sight.
And veil them with tears from all sights

أَلَيسَis it not بِهِthrough it أَلقاكَI meet you عِندَduring التَفكيرِreflection
And I [thank] my heart for its faithful service to you:
And bind my heart to you in its ordeal
Is it not through it that I meet you in thought?
Is it not by it I met you in contemplation
