بِظُلمٍ وَبِعَدوانِ

بِظُلمٍ وَبِعَدوانِ

And a judge passing judgment on me

One who judges and rules over me

With injustice and aggression?

With injustice and transgression?

لَقَد سَلَّطَ ذا الحُبَّ

لَقَد سَلَّطَ ذا الحُبَّ

عَلَينا شَرُّ سُلطانِ

عَلَينا شَرُّ سُلطانِ

Indeed, this love has been given power

Indeed, this love has unleashed

Over us by the worst of rulers.

The worst of tyrants upon us.
