The imagination of the lover struck
At a late hour, to the lover's pillow.
And weakness overcame the lover

The east wind spent the night stirring it
The morning blew upon it
In a hollow between towering peaks.
Among the towering buildings

And grey hair has spread over the partings of my hair.
And my gray hair rises above me
وَتَرَكتُand I abandoned أَمرَthe course of غَوايَتيmy waywardness
وَتَرَكتُ أَمرَ غَوايَتي
وَسَلَكتُand I followed قَصدَthe straight course of طَرائِقيmy paths

And I have abandoned my waywardness,
And I left the matter of my temptation
And followed the straight course of my paths.
And took to the path of my ways

And our mounts take us down
Between the mountain passes and Dāʾiq.
Between the roads and passes

And indeed I have learned that I
And I knew that I
Will die by the Creator's power.
Am dead to the power of the Creator
