أَضافَت إِلَيهِ طُرقَةُ اللَيلِ مافَتاً

أَضافَت إِلَيهِ طُرقَةُ اللَيلِ مافَتاً

ثُباتاً إِذا ظَلَّ الفَتى وَهوَ أَوجَلُ

ثُباتاً إِذا ظَلَّ الفَتى وَهوَ أَوجَلُ

The night's visitation brought him a formidable man as a guest,

The night has added confusion

Steadfast when the young man remains full of dread.

To one who persists though he delays

بَدا بِحَرامِ اللَهِ حَتّى اِستَحَلَّهُ

بَدا بِحَرامِ اللَهِ حَتّى اِستَحَلَّهُ

وَكانَ شِفاءً ثَأرُ نَفسي مُعَجِّلُ

وَكانَ شِفاءً ثَأرُ نَفسي مُعَجِّلُ

He began with what God had forbidden, until he deemed it lawful,

He began by violating sacred law until he permitted it

And swift vengeance for myself was a cure.

And my soul's quick vengeance was a remedy
