You are life to the soul; so when

you depart, the soul's lifeblood departs with you.

لم أُفارِقْك اختيارا إنما

حثّني الحَيْنُ على أَن أَدَعك

I did not part from you by choice; it was only

I did not leave you by choice, but

doom that urged me to leave you.

Destiny urged me to leave you

فإذا دارتْ رَحَى السَّعْدِ على

فإذا دارتْ رَحَى السَّعْدِ على

مَنْ رأَى وجهَك أو من سمِعك

مَنْ رأَى وجهَك أو من سمِعك

And when the millstone of good fortune turns upon
