بك أَستزين إذا فخرت فاسبِق

بك أَستزين إذا فخرت فاسبِق

وبنظم مدحِك في البريةِ أنطِقُ

وبنظم مدحِك في البريةِ أنطِقُ

With you I adorn myself when I boast, and so excel.

And among humankind I voice your praise in verse.

يا من بدولته وصِحةِ عدلِهِ

يا من بدولته وصِحةِ عدلِهِ

أَمسى جديداً ذا الزمانُ المخلقُ

أَمسى جديداً ذا الزمانُ المخلقُ

O you, through whose reign and sound justice

This worn-out age has become new.

إني بعثت بنفسَجاً نمّت به

إني بعثت بنفسَجاً نمّت به

ريحٌ كريح المِسكِ ظلّت تُفْتَقُ

ريحٌ كريح المِسكِ ظلّت تُفْتَقُ

I have sent violets, whose presence was revealed

By a musk-like scent that kept being released.

ونباتَ وردٍ كالخدودِ إذا بدت

ونباتَ وردٍ كالخدودِ إذا بدت

وعقيقُ ماءِ الحسنِ فِيه يُشْرِقُ

وعقيقُ ماءِ الحسنِ فِيه يُشْرِقُ

And rose blooms, like cheeks when they appear,

And the carnelian of beauty's sheen gleams within them.

وكأنّ ذا ياقوتُ عِقدٍ أحمرٍ

وكأنّ ذا ياقوتُ عِقدٍ أحمرٍ

وكأنّ ذا ياقوتُ عِقدٍ أَزرقُ

وكأنّ ذا ياقوتُ عِقدٍ أَزرقُ

And this is like a red ruby in a necklace,

And this is like a blue sapphire in a necklace.

فانعَمْ هنيئاً إنّ سعدك طالع

فانعَمْ هنيئاً إنّ سعدك طالع

فينا وملكك كلَّ يومٍ مورِقُ

فينا وملكك كلَّ يومٍ مورِقُ

So live in contented bliss: your good fortune is rising

Among us, and your kingdom puts forth leaves each day.
