The month of fasting is the noblest month to come,

and through it every burdensome sin is purged.

And likewise, you are the most righteous of those who trod the pebbles,

and the noblest of the sons of the Prophet, the Messenger.

O proof of the All-Merciful among His servants,

and His blazing star in every perplexing matter!

Whoever does not, in his fasting, seek nearness

through you to God—his fast is not accepted.

So may you be preserved for Islam, protecting its law

with Mashrafi swords and slender spears.

O you, to the excellence of whose era and character

the proofs of the revealed Book have borne witness.

Without you, the age would not be serene, nor could one attain

within it the many forms of perfect bliss.

So may God, on our behalf, give you the finest reward He ever gave

a king, and favor you with the longest life,

and abase whoever is hostile to you with the abasement of one forced to submit,

and strike him with a grievous, intractable calamity.

And likewise, whoever comes to mar a blessing

of yours among us—may he ever be the lowest of the low.

    أَبِشرْ بنَصْرِ المنعِم المتفضّل

    You have always been beneficent and gracious among us;

rejoice in the aid of the Beneficent, the Bountiful.

May eyes that envy you be lined with grit,

so they cannot see; if not so lined, may they be gouged out.

And may God bless you, O son of His Prophet,

and set your glory above the loftiest station.
