Set the sphere of wine revolving, and stop reproaching me.

And take it: pour me some, and pour for my companions.

For today is a day of dew and drizzle,

And a day of rain, of dripping and pouring.

As though a beloved of the cloud had departed,

So it came weeping with a lovesick lover’s eyelids.

And the breeze has sprinkled rosewater,

And spread a cloak of clouds over the air.

Had you seen it in drizzle and spray,

Then you would have danced with rapture and wonder.

The sun within it seems a bride of Hawf,

Escorted to them in a robe of fine linen.
