    Revel in delight and youth,

For spring has emerged from behind the veil.

Are youth within youth within youth.

So hasten to wine in a cupbearer's palm,

Who passes round wine from sweet hailstones.

He passes wine with his saliva and his hands—

    Drink within drink within drink.

As though his hands matched his cheeks

In a fire from which a blaze draws warmth.

His hands, then his cheek, and my heart

Are a flame within a flame within a flame.

When the reproachers speak at length about him,

And repeated reproach grows heavier upon me,

Their enmity and their blame, all together,

Are a mirage within a mirage within a mirage.

    جَلاها الغيثُ من تحت النِّقاب

    By your life, the world is but a bride;

The rain has revealed her from beneath the veil.

Her violets, her narcissi, and roses

Are dye within dye within dye.

So pour out wine from the ewer's blood,

For the rain is deprived of clouds.

So my ewer, my cup, and the morning rains

Are clouds within clouds within clouds.

So the drinking was complete; indeed, sobriety is resolve,

And Nayruz has its share of wine.

So your judgment, then your drinking, and the beautiful women

Are rightness within rightness within rightness.
