O monastery of Marhanna, the rains have watered you,
They come down heavily at times, then recede.
How many joyful gatherings you hosted for us,
With wine circulating among us in abundance.
How much the light of dawn has smiled within you,
And the rose's blush on the cheeks receded.
And silver spears leaned upon the sand dunes,
Weighed down with the burden they carry.
I spend my nights wrapped in the garb of youth,
Revelry and frivolity, though time passes rudely.
When my nights are not awakened by old age,
And my legacy among singers remains admired.
