O king whose omen is auspicious,

and you whose radiant brow has put the moon to shame.

I have sent you tender blossoms,

delighting the boon companions’ senses of smell and sight.

A nosegay, lovely to behold and to experience,

as though it were a beloved’s fragrance as he walked by.

I do not offer a gift equal to the Imam’s worth; were I

to seek that, I would be pursuing falsehood and arrogance.

But I set out to offer it out of pure love,

and whoever gives you what he can has indeed obeyed you.
