يأيها المعشوقُ بالله مَن

صَفَّر بالهجران نَيْلَوْفَرَكْ

صَفَّر بالهجران نَيْلَوْفَرَكْ

O beloved, by God, who

O beloved, by God who

has yellowed your water lily through estrangement?

Has yellowed your narcissus with separation

فقال واسترجع في قوله

فقال واسترجع في قوله

غَيّرني الحبُّ كما غَيَّركْ

غَيّرني الحبُّ كما غَيَّركْ

Then he said, uttering a prayer of resignation as he spoke:

So he said and regained in his words

Love has changed me, just as it changed you.

لم يَتَّرِكْ لي عشقُ شمسِ الضّحى

لم يَتَّرِكْ لي عشقُ شمسِ الضّحى

لَوْناً لو تَارَكْتُه ما تَرَكْ

لَوْناً لو تَارَكْتُه ما تَرَكْ

Love for the midmorning sun has left me no

The love of the morning sun left me

color; were I to forsake it, it would not forsake me.

No color, had I left it, it would not have left

صُفوةُ وجهي ترجمانُ الهوى

صُفوةُ وجهي ترجمانُ الهوى

فِيَّ ونَبْتِي في جَوابي البِرك

فِيَّ ونَبْتِي في جَوابي البِرك

The purity of my face is the interpreter of love

The essence of my face is the interpreter of love

within me, and I grow in the basins of the ponds.
