بقِيتَ أبا عبدِ الإله مسلِّماً

بقِيتَ أبا عبدِ الإله مسلِّماً

سعيداً لِتشييد المكارم والمجدِ

سعيداً لِتشييد المكارم والمجدِ

May you remain, Abu Abd al-Ilah, offering greetings,

You remained, Abul Abdillah, content

Happy in building up noble virtues and glory.

Happy to build virtues and glory

يزيد مع الأيام وُدّك جِدَّةً

يزيد مع الأيام وُدّك جِدَّةً

إذا حال فيها كلُّ خِلّ عن الوُدّ

إذا حال فيها كلُّ خِلّ عن الوُدّ

Your affection grows fresher with the days,

Your affection increases as days go by

When, in those days, every friend turns away from affection.

When every grudge parts from affection

ومِثلُك من يزداد عُقْدُ إخائه

ومِثلُك من يزداد عُقْدُ إخائه

وفاءً إذا لم يَبقَ خِدْنٌ على عَقْد

وفاءً إذا لم يَبقَ خِدْنٌ على عَقْد

And one like you is one whose bond of brotherhood grows

And one like you, his bond of brotherhood grows

In loyalty, when no companion remains true to a pact.

More faithful when no rancor remains in the bond

وما زلتَ حُرَّ النفس في السُّخط والرضا

وما زلتَ حُرَّ النفس في السُّخط والرضا

كريمَ السجايا ماجدَ القَبْل والبَعْد

كريمَ السجايا ماجدَ القَبْل والبَعْد

And you have always been noble of soul, in displeasure and contentment,

You still have a free soul whether angry or pleased

Generous in character, illustrious in past and future.
