فو الذي أَنا مِنه

حقّاً بأَعلى المَحَلّ

By He from whom I came,

truly in the highest station,

I truly deserve the highest place,

لأَزجرنّ فؤادي

عنكْم بِبعضي وكُلّى

I shall surely drive my heart

I will restrain my heart

away from you, with part of me and all of me,

From you all with some and all of me,

وأَتركَنَّك فَرْداً

وأَتركَنَّك فَرْداً

تبكي على فقدِ خِلّ

تبكي على فقدِ خِلّ

and I shall surely leave you alone,

And I will leave you alone

weeping over the loss of a close friend.
