I am made of the delicacy of love and air,

and my parts were fashioned from light.

The beautiful maidens offer me their

faces, to the exclusion of mothers and fathers.

And when the singing slave girls sing, I am

a veil hiding their glances from the boon companions.

So I, the hair, and the white

faces are like full moons amid darkness in a sky.

I touch the beautiful faces and take

    pleasure in every rosy cheek.

    لا ولا أتَّقى من الرُّقَباء

    I do not fear the tale-bearers if they eye me;

no, nor do I guard against the watchers.

And when the beauties' heads are kissed,

the foremost men of refinement kiss me.

My worth is far above the chemise and the

drawstring, the shirts, the coat, and the cloak.
