As for the gardens, they have been stolen
for the plants from your radiant words.

truly bow their heads and are filled with modesty,
كالشّيءlike something يَسْتهديهhe requests it as a gift منّيَfrom me ربُّهits owner
أنتَyou الأحقّmost entitled بهاto them وبالإهداءand to giving gifts
like something its owner asks me for as a gift.
You have the greatest right to them—and to bestow them as gifts.
منكfrom you استعارborrowed الحُسْنَbeauty كلُّevery مُحَسَّنٍbeautified thing

Every lovely thing has borrowed beauty from you;
so the beauties of things trace their lineage to you.
وَظَرُفتَand you were refined حتىto the point that فُقْتَyou surpassed كلَّevery مُظَرًّفٍrefined person
ولَطُفتَand you were delicate حتىto the point that فُقْتَyou surpassed لُطْفthe delicacy of الماءwater
And you were so refined that you surpassed every polished person,
and so delicate that you surpassed the delicacy of water.

The brocade of your speech surpasses every flower-adorned thing,
yet the beauty of sincerity is better still.

Nothing is lovelier than two friends blessed with happiness,
who suckle one another on the milk of perfect faithfulness.

This one confides lovingly in the other; both have kept faith
forever, though they have never enjoyed a meeting.
