ولما تلقّى الغيثُ حسن غنائنا

تلقتْ نجوم السعدِ أنجمنا كرّا

And when the rain welcomed the beauty of our singing,

When the rain accepted the beauty of our singing,

the stars of good fortune met our stars once more.

فيا صاحبي حُثَّ المدامة واسقني

فيا صاحبي حُثَّ المدامة واسقني

فإني أرى في الدهر بعد الدجى فجرا

فإني أرى في الدهر بعد الدجى فجرا

So, my friend, hasten the wine and give me a drink,

So my friend, pass the wine and serve me,

for I see, in the course of time, a dawn after darkness.

For I see after the darkness of fate, a dawn.
