Ah, for the one before whom your eyes—

—and the twin roses of your lips open in a smile!

Ah, at the water of youth that courses—

    —through your cheeks!

Ah, at your night, revealing itself,

    rising from your two side-locks!

Ah, at your figure when it sways—

    —over your rounded hips!

Ah, at the dawn and your night,

both lying hidden in your cheeks!

Do you think I shall one day rule you—

    —as I wish?

Or do you see me distraught because of—

—you, yet driven back to you?

How could my kisses fail to draw—

—ambergris from the hollows of your throat?

And the pair are like water, never held—

    —within your fingertips.

Blessed is he who has kissed—O joy—

    —of his eyes—your hands!
