وصفراء تُكثر إيناسها
تعيشshe lives إذاwhen قطعواthey cut off راسهاher head
تعيش إذا قطعوا راسها
A yellow one, lavish in the companionship she gives,
And a yellow one who offers much comfort,
Lives when they cut off her head.
She lives when they cut off her head.
تغازلهاflirts with her الريحthe wind فيin مَرّهاits passing
تغازلها الريح في مَرّها
ولكنbut تقطِّعcuts off أنفاسهاher breaths
ولكن تقطِّع أنفاسها
The wind flirts with her as it passes,
The wind flirts with her in passing,
Yet cuts off her breaths.
But cuts off her breath.
ولمand did not أرI see مَنْanyone who قتلتkilled نفسهاherself
ولم أر مَنْ قتلت نفسها
سِواهاexcept her لترضيَso she may please جُلاَّسهاthose seated with her
سِواها لترضيَ جُلاَّسها
Never have I seen one who killed herself
And I have never seen anyone kill herself
Except her—to please those seated in her company.
Except her, to please those seated with her.
