My God, I cannot bear the burden of these sins;
And You, in kindness, erase them and forgive.

Upon me with grief that crushes the soul.

All within my limbs has wasted away because of it;
So I am powerless, while pains whistle around me.

And it left an illness that bit into my life's core;
By its torment, the shattered heart is seared.

My God, sins to my right and to my left
Pursue my steps, which so often stumble over them.

And their specters have barred my path to uprightness
In a long night whose dawn does not break.

And my resolve is weary—how can it carry my step
And move onward with it, while my judgment is bewildered?

I walk in a night whose veil is dark with visions;
How, then, can the weary, stumbling one walk through it?
