Of a solemn promise, to fulfill my wish-

Are they still wakeful, as they're wont to be,
or has punishment crushed their resolve, striking them down,
Or has dismay now bowed them down, broken?

Has blindness made them stay, though they disdained

To rest, relying on escape for hope?
