صدودكyour rejection ياO أسمىAsma أذابmelted حشاشتيmy life's essence
وأشمتand made gloat عذاليmy reproachers وبلبلand confused أفكاريmy thoughts
Your rejection, O Asma, has melted my very soul,
Your echoes, O most sublime, melted my sadness
And made my reproachers gloat and thrown my thoughts into turmoil.
And I smelled my torment and the nightingale of my thoughts
ولكننيbut I ماnot زلتhave ceased والحبand love ناصريmy champion
أدافعهمI fend them off عنيfrom me بصبريwith my patience وأشعاريand my poems
Yet still, with love as my champion,
Yet I still, with love as my ally
I fend them off with my patience and my poems.
Defend them from me with my patience and my poems
فإنand if كاثرونيthey outnumber me بالوشاةwith slanderers وأسرفواand go too far
ولمand not يغننيavail me مهريmy colt ورمحيand my spear وبتاريand my keen sword
And if they muster slanderers against me and go too far,
If they increase upon me with slander and excess
And my colt, my spear, and my keen sword avail me nothing,
And my dagger, spear, and sword do not avail me
غزوتهمI assailed them منfrom مقلتيكyour two eyes ومدمعيand my tear duct
ومنand from نَفَسيmy breath بالسيفwith the sword والسيلand the flood والنارand the fire
I would assail them, drawing on your eyes and my tears,
I will invade them with my eyelashes and my tears
And on my breath—with sword, flood, and fire.
And with my soul with the sword, torrent, and fire
