فقلت تفاحةٌ من روض وجنتها

أشهى وأشرف من الفين رمّانَهْ

So I said, “An apple from the garden of her cheek

Is more delectable and nobler than two thousand pomegranates.

واللَه لا أنثني عن جود ريقتها

لجور ناهدةٍ بالريق ضنّانَهْ

لجور ناهدةٍ بالريق ضنّانَهْ

And by God, I will not turn from the bounty of her saliva

By God, I'll not desist from kissing her mouth

For the cruelty of a full-breasted woman stingy with saliva.”

For fear an envious girl will chide her stinginess.
