يومٌa day بهon it مهجhearts الحسادthe envious تنفطرsplit apart
The day of accession that gladdened humankind,
The day of ascension when humankind rejoiced,
A day on which the hearts of the envious split apart.
A day that broke the jealous people's hearts.

On it a king has arisen for faith and the world;
A just king rose for religion and this life,
Decree and destiny proceed as he desires.
Judging as he desires, as fate decrees.

His father, neighbor of the God of the Throne, named him
The Lord of the Throne named him Abdülhamid,
Abd al-Hamid; and the moon gave him its name.
And gave him the name of the shining moon.

It is incumbent upon God to erase calamities through him,
It's right for God to erase troubles through him,
As darkness is erased when dawn grows bright,
Like the clearing of clouds at dawn's first light.

And to make all people equal through him, so no
No murkiness touches clarity in his days.
Sorrows touch the pure in his days.

I seek protection for him by God's Book—a king
I seek refuge for him in God's book from a king
Whose enemies are few, while the envious have grown many.
I said opposed him while enviers grew.

Whoever opposes God's trusted one is in straits;
And from one who threatens God's trustee in straits,
And who can prevail against his victorious sword?
And from one empowered by his victorious sword.

فليسso does not يخطرappear فيat أبوابهhis gates الخطرdanger
A noble lord who built his kingdoms upon piety,
May his realms be adorned with the pious,
So danger never appears at his gates.
So no danger knocks on his doors.

All sins at the gates of his mercy
All sins are at the doors of his mercy,
Are forgiven, except those subject to God's prescribed penalties.
Unless they are beyond God's forgiveness.

One like us, the Commander of the Faithful,
Deep, sheltering shade, in whom we glory and take pride?
We rest in his shade and pride ourselves on him.

By God, neither sun nor moon has seen
By God, neither sun nor moon that was extolled
A lord to match him—nor have nomads or townsfolk.
In verse, neither nomad nor city dweller,

For he is the supreme mercy spoken of
For he is the greatest mercy that was heralded
In the traditions, the verses, and the surahs.
In scriptures, verses and suras.

Ibn Za'idah's generosity is a shadow of his steady rain;
The generosity of Ibn Zaida, a shade for his people,
And Kisra's justice—no boast—is but a trace of his.
And justice like Khusraw has no trace left.

His palms are two ceaseless showers: if they touched a stone
His palms, if they touched a rock,
That water had never touched, the stone would sprout leaves.
A rock no water ever touched would turn green.
