لا غرو أن غدت الشآم نعيما

لا غرو أن غدت الشآم نعيما

وغدا بها الفوز العظيم مقيما

وغدا بها الفوز العظيم مقيما

No wonder al-Sham has become a land of bliss,

No wonder Damascus has become a paradise,

And mighty triumph has made its home there.

And winning supremely resides in it.

فاللَه رد لها طبيبَ كلومها

فاللَه رد لها طبيبَ كلومها

واختاره حكماً لها وحكيما

واختاره حكماً لها وحكيما

For God has restored to it the physician of its wounds,

For God has returned its healer to it,

And chosen him as its arbiter and sage.

And chosen him as its ruler and sage.

فاكرم به حكماً إذا لاقيته

فاكرم به حكماً إذا لاقيته

لا قيت منه سميه المعصوما

لا قيت منه سميه المعصوما

What a noble arbiter he is! When you meet him,

So honor him as a ruler when you meet him,

You meet in him his namesake, the sinless one.

I have not met anyone as faultless as him.

متصرفٌ صرف الظَلومَ مكدَّراً

متصرفٌ صرف الظَلومَ مكدَّراً

عنا وطوَّق بالصفا المظلوما

عنا وطوَّق بالصفا المظلوما

A governor who sent the oppressor away dismayed,

An administrator who has pushed away injustice,

From us, and garlanded the oppressed with serenity.

And adorned the oppressed with integrity.

ردت صوارمه الهموم كليمة

ردت صوارمه الهموم كليمة

واقتاد نائله السرور سليما

واقتاد نائله السرور سليما

His keen swords sent sorrows back wounded,

His swords have subdued worries completely,

And his bounty brought joy, safe and sound.

And led the obtainer of joy safely.

فغدا لسان الحال يهتف أرخوا

فغدا لسان الحال يهتف أرخوا

عدلٌ وفضلٌ أيَّد اِبراهيما

عدلٌ وفضلٌ أيَّد اِبراهيما

So the tongue of circumstance began to cry: ‘Mark the date—

So the state of affairs began to shout, release!

Justice and generosity have strengthened Ibrahim.’

Justice and kindness have supported Ibrahim.
