Breasts like the pomegranates of bliss,

with which a gazelle's sisters flirt with me.

Their stars drove away my sweet sleep,

and they did not rob me of a weaned child's yearning.

to embrace the heart of a generous, noble man,

    فلم لا تحرقين بها همومي

    Your breasts have burned away my fortitude and patience;

so why do you not burn away my worries with them?

I see the poets ascribing every enchantment

of formidable might to the languid gaze,

    and deeming breasts less enchanting,

though they are the masters of mighty enchantment.

They have indeed ascribed the immense to something weak,

and have ascribed the weak to something immense.

in whom we may rejoice, like Luqman the Wise,

who says: 'Enchantment comes from the pomegranates of a bosom

that spits forth the blood of vines from carnelian'?
