تزحزح ناب الليث عن مهجة الرشا

Blessed is He who gave the minister skill in governance,

Blessed is he who gave the minister wisdom

that moves the lion’s fang away from the young gazelle’s heart.

That made the lion's fangs slide off the brave man's neck,

وخوَّله اللطف الذي لو أفاضه

وخوَّله اللطف الذي لو أفاضه

على قبر ميتٍ عاش أو مقعدٍ مشى

على قبر ميتٍ عاش أو مقعدٍ مشى

And endowed him with gentleness which, were he to pour it

And granted him the kindness which, if he let flow

upon a dead man’s grave, he would live—or upon one unable to walk, he would walk.

Upon a dead man's tomb, would make the corpse arise and walk,

وآتاه علماً ما تلقاه غيره

وآتاه علماً ما تلقاه غيره

وذلك فضل اللَه يؤتيه من يشا

وذلك فضل اللَه يؤتيه من يشا

And granted him knowledge that no other has received;

And gave him knowledge none but he did ever gain.

And that is God’s bounty, which He bestows on whomever He wills.

Such is God's grace bestowed on whom He will.
