Toward al-ʿAtf we set the mounts moving and turned aside

To kindness we moved our feet and climbed

To the august gathering of remembrance, and he debated with us.

To the council of glorious remembrance and yearned

فكنا نرى علما تلاطم موجه

لدى الفجر فاستهوى النفوس فأهزجنا

And with longing we bade the dwellings farewell and set out by night.

With yearning we bid the homes farewell and departed

سلام على تلك الديار وأهلها

ولولا ولولا ما رحلنا ولججنا

Peace upon those dwellings and their people.
