علىَ وَجْهِ الْحَــيَاةِ مَدَارُ دَهْــــرٍ

علىَ وَجْهِ الْحَــيَاةِ مَدَارُ دَهْــــرٍ

وَفِي عـُمْرِ الزَّمَانِ مَضَى زَمَــانُ

وَفِي عـُمْرِ الزَّمَانِ مَضَى زَمَــانُ

Upon life's face, an age runs its course,

And within time's lifespan, an age has passed.

كَــمَـا مَـرُّوا نَمـُـرُّ وَمَنْ يَلِينـــَـا

كَــمَـا مَـرُّوا نَمـُـرُّ وَمَنْ يَلِينـــَـا

وَهـَذِي ســُنّْةُ الْمَــوْلَى بـــَيــــَـانُ

وَهـَذِي ســُنّْةُ الْمَــوْلَى بـــَيــــَـانُ

Just as they passed, we pass, and those who follow us.

And this is the Lord's way, plainly declared.

عَلـَى مَـــرِّ السِّنِـينِ شُهُورُ فَضْلٍ

عَلـَى مَـــرِّ السِّنِـينِ شُهُورُ فَضْلٍ

وَأَيـــَّامُ الإلَــهِ لـــَنــَا تُـــــــزانُ

وَأَيـــَّامُ الإلَــهِ لـــَنــَا تُـــــــزانُ

Through the passing years come months of grace,

And God's days are adorned for us.

وَمِنْ بَيـْنِ الشُّهـُورِ يـَسُودُ شـَهـْرٌ

وَمِنْ بَيـْنِ الشُّهـُورِ يـَسُودُ شـَهـْرٌ

تــَمَيــَّـزَ بِالتُّقَى ،هــَدْيٌ يُـصَانُ

تــَمَيــَّـزَ بِالتُّقَى ،هــَدْيٌ يُـصَانُ

And among the months, one month reigns,

Distinguished by piety; guidance is safeguarded.

عـَلَــتْ نــَفَحَاتُهُ سَـبَقََتْ بِــعِطْــرٍٍ

عـَلَــتْ نــَفَحَاتُهُ سَـبَقََتْ بِــعِطْــرٍٍ

وَهـَـفْـهَفَــتِ النَّسَــائِمُ ، وَالجِنَانُ

وَهـَـفْـهَفَــتِ النَّسَــائِمُ ، وَالجِنَانُ

Its wafts rose high, leading the way with fragrance,

And the breezes and gardens fluttered gently.

كَأَنِّي أَنْـتَشِي وَالرُّوحُ سَـــــاحَتْ

كَأَنِّي أَنْـتَشِي وَالرُّوحُ سَـــــاحَتْ

كَـــــذَا في النَّـاسِ لَبَّاهُ الكــيانُ

كَـــــذَا في النَّـاسِ لَبَّاهُ الكــيانُ

As though I were enraptured, while the soul wandered,

Thus, among the people, their whole being answered its call.

تَمَـخَّـضَ بَــــدْرُنَا في جَـوْفِ ليْلٍ

تَمَـخَّـضَ بَــــدْرُنَا في جَـوْفِ ليْلٍ

فَهَلَّ هِـــلاَلـُنَا.... بـَـرَقَ العنَانُ

فَهَلَّ هِـــلاَلـُنَا.... بـَـرَقَ العنَانُ

Our full moon labored in the depths of night,

Then our crescent appeared; the sky flashed.

أَضَــاءَ بــِنُوره وَجْـــهَ الــْـبـَـرَايَا

أَضَــاءَ بــِنُوره وَجْـــهَ الــْـبـَـرَايَا

وَحدَّثَ لَــيْلَــهُ نـُجُـمٌ حـــِســَانُ

وَحدَّثَ لَــيْلَــهُ نـُجُـمٌ حـــِســَانُ

It illuminated creation's face with its light,

And beautiful stars spoke to its night.

تـَــعَالَى فِي فَضَاءِ الـْكَـوْنِ بِشْرًا

تـَــعَالَى فِي فَضَاءِ الـْكَـوْنِ بِشْرًا

وَنــَادَى فِي الْـوُجُودِ لَـهُ الْأذَانُ

وَنــَادَى فِي الْـوُجُودِ لَـهُ الْأذَانُ

It soared joyfully in the universe's expanse,

And the call to prayer rang out for it throughout existence.

وَبـَارَكـَهُ الإِلــَهُ بــِعــِـــــزِّ قـَوْلٍ

وَبـَارَكـَهُ الإِلــَهُ بــِعــِـــــزِّ قـَوْلٍ

تــَـــسـَابَقَهُ الأُولَى نِعْمَ الرِّهَـانُ

تــَـــسـَابَقَهُ الأُولَى نِعْمَ الرِّهَـانُ

And God blessed it with a mighty utterance,

The first raced for it—what a fine wager!

أتـَــى رَمَـضَـانُنَـا نَــادَى لــِخَـيْرٍ

أتـَــى رَمَـضَـانُنَـا نَــادَى لــِخَـيْرٍ

ألاَ لبَّـيـْكَ قــَدْ فــُتـِحَ الصـــٍّوَانُ

ألاَ لبَّـيـْكَ قــَدْ فــُتـِحَ الصـــٍّوَانُ

Our Ramadan has come, calling to goodness:

Lo, at your service! The coffer has indeed been opened.

رَجَـوْنَا رَحـْمَةً ،عــَفـْوًا،وَعـِتـْقـًا

رَجَـوْنَا رَحـْمَةً ،عــَفـْوًا،وَعـِتـْقـًا

فَحـيَّ لـــِمَغـْــــنَمٍ ، آنَ الأَوَانُ

فَحـيَّ لـــِمَغـْــــنَمٍ ، آنَ الأَوَانُ

We hoped for mercy, pardon, and release,

So hasten to the bounty; the time has come.

إلاَهِــي..فاقْتربْ منـَّا.... تَجــَــــلَّى

إلاَهِــي..فاقْتربْ منـَّا.... تَجــَــــلَّى

وَأَقْــــبِلْ... أَيـْنَمَا كَانَ الْمَكَانُ

وَأَقْــــبِلْ... أَيـْنَمَا كَانَ الْمَكَانُ

My God, draw near to us; manifest Yourself,

And come, wherever the place may be.

وَأَفْــــــرِحْ صـــَائـِمًا قــَامَ اللـَّيَالِي

وَأَفْــــــرِحْ صـــَائـِمًا قــَامَ اللـَّيَالِي

وَرِضْوَانـًـا بـِـــهِ عَـمَّ الأَمَـــانُ

وَرِضْوَانـًـا بـِـــهِ عَـمَّ الأَمَـــانُ

And gladden one who fasts and has stood in prayer through the nights,

And favor, through which peace has spread everywhere.
