What poor person, through your gifts, O

best of all women in creation, has not been raised up?

And what house of yours, with generosity and

honor for seekers of bounty, has not been carpeted?

You are she whose kindness has restored

    companionship to generosity's desolate abode.

Since the days were restrained from their oppression

by your hand, they have neither slain nor struck.

And since we came to the sea of your bounty,

brimming over, we have neither thirsted nor been parched.

Grant me an allowance; I am, for fear of your

    delay in it, deeply uneasy.

For I have dependents who want none of

    the world's fruit except apricots.

    Smooth Imami coins delight them,

like the faces of fair maidens, never scratched.

May you endure as long as the east wind's breeze is gentle,

    and wine delights the tipsy.

And may you live for me as long as the horizon is likened, in the

gloom, to the belly of a speckled horse.
