لَئِن أَخَّرَتني الحادِثاتُ وَقَصَّرَت

لَئِن أَخَّرَتني الحادِثاتُ وَقَصَّرَت

خُطايَ اللَيالي وَاِستَلانَ تَجَلُّدي

خُطايَ اللَيالي وَاِستَلانَ تَجَلُّدي

Though misfortunes have held me back, and the nights have shortened

Though events have delayed me and shortened

My steps, and my fortitude has softened,

my nights' journeys and weakened my endurance,

فَما فاتَني شيءٌ يَطولُ تَأَسُّفي

فَما فاتَني شيءٌ يَطولُ تَأَسُّفي

عَليهِ سِوى لُقياكَ يا اِبنَ مُحَمَّدِ

عَليهِ سِوى لُقياكَ يا اِبنَ مُحَمَّدِ

Yet nothing has eluded me that I would long regret,

I have lost nothing to prolong my regret

Except meeting you, O son of Muhammad.
