لا شَكَّ أَنَّكَ بَعدَ ما فارَقتَني

لا شَكَّ أَنَّكَ بَعدَ ما فارَقتَني

وَوَعَدتَني بِالتَمرِ وَالسيلانِ

وَوَعَدتَني بِالتَمرِ وَالسيلانِ

There is no doubt that, after you parted from me

No doubt, after you left me

And promised me dates and date syrup,

And promised me dates and drink

فَكَّرتَ في إِنجازِ وَعدِكَ لي وَقُل

فَكَّرتَ في إِنجازِ وَعدِكَ لي وَقُل

تَ التَمرُ أَنفَعُ لي مِنَ الإِخوانِ

تَ التَمرُ أَنفَعُ لي مِنَ الإِخوانِ

You thought about fulfilling your promise to me and said,

You thought about fulfilling your promise to me and said

"Dates are more useful to me than friends."

Dates are more beneficial for me than companions

وَأَمِنتَ أَن تَسري إِلَيكَ قَوارِضٌ

وَأَمِنتَ أَن تَسري إِلَيكَ قَوارِضٌ

مِنّي تَصَكُّ مَسامِعَ الآذانِ

مِنّي تَصَكُّ مَسامِعَ الآذانِ

And you felt safe from biting verses stealing toward you

And you feared borrowed reproaches from me

From me, that batter the ears.

Would assail the ears

فَأَصِخ لَهُنَّ فَما إِخالُكَ جامِعاً

فَأَصِخ لَهُنَّ فَما إِخالُكَ جامِعاً

بَينَ السِكوتِ عَلَيَّ وَالحِرمانِ

بَينَ السِكوتِ عَلَيَّ وَالحِرمانِ

So listen to them, for I do not think you will combine

So hush them, for your silence towards me and deprivation

Ignoring me with depriving me.

Does not make you a gatherer
