لاmay ... not بارَكَbless اللَهُGod فيupon قَومٍa people صَحِبتُهُمُI kept their company
فَماfor ... not رَعَواthey respected حُرمَتيmy dignity يَوماًever وَلاnor عَرَفواthey acknowledged
May God not bless the people whose company I kept;
for never did they respect my dignity or acknowledge it.
وَلاnor وَصَفتُI described قَبيحاًanything vile مِنamong فِعالِهِمُtheir deeds

Never have I described anything vile in their deeds
without their treatment of me surpassing what I describe.
لَأَصبُرَنَّI shall surely endure عَلىin the face of إِدمانِpersistence in ظُلمِهِمُtheir injustice

I shall surely endure their persistent injustice;
perhaps the nights will favor me, and I shall gain redress.
