No dawn emerged from the rim of gloom,
وَأَضاءَand shone بَدرٌa full moon مِنfrom سُجوفِthe curtains of غَمامَةٍa cloud
وَأَضاءَ بَدرٌ مِن سُجوفِ غَمامَةٍ
وَاِستَلَّand slipped out فَجرٌdawn مِنfrom قِرابِthe scabbard of هَزيعِa watch of night
وَاِستَلَّ فَجرٌ مِن قِرابِ هَزيعِ
and a full moon shines through a cloud's curtains,
When you gave me good tidings with your auspicious presence,
and dawn slips from the scabbard of a watch of night.
O embodiment of all I hope for!
