1. لا يكذبُ العاقلُ ما

    أمْكنَهُ صِدْقٌ يجبْ

    The wise man does not lie so long as

    Truthfulness is possible for him—and it is his duty;

  2. ففي المَعارِيضِ له

    مَنْدُوحةٌ عن الكَذِبْ

    For in equivocal speech he has

    A way to avoid lying.
