يا صاحِ والشوقُ اسْتَعَرْ

يا صاحِ والشوقُ اسْتَعَرْ

إن فَتَّق الجَفْنَ السَّهَرْ

إن فَتَّق الجَفْنَ السَّهَرْ

O friend, with longing ablaze,

O companion! Passion reignited

if sleeplessness tears the eyelid open,

When sleeplessness cracked the eyelids

رَفَّاهُ خَيْطُ مَدْمَعٍ

رَفَّاهُ خَيْطُ مَدْمَعٍ

له من الهُدْبِ إبَرْ

له من الهُدْبِ إبَرْ

a thread of tears darns it,

A tear's thread comforted it

with eyelashes for its needles.

With needles of dew it was stitched
